It was a dark moonless night, I had had a fight with my elder brother and stormed out of the dining and into my room. As, I sat by the window watching the sky, I saw a streak of light flash in the woods. Did I tell you my house lies on the border of a forest which is beautiful in the day and spooky as can be at night.
I rubbed my eyes, there is barely any activity in the woods at this time of the night, I must have imagined it, I assumed and brushed the thought away. And, there it was again, yet another flash of light followed by a thud.
I jumped out of my chair, and my iPhone 8 slipped out of my hand and crashed on the hard wooden flooring. But, I did not care. I had only recently spent all my meager savings in buying a rugged shockproof case for my phone. Yes, a Ghostek aluminum alloy frame that was rock solid which proved to be worth every cent that I spent on it.
I perked up my ears as I picked up the phone from where it lay, scratch and dent free thanks to its armor protection and dual durable duty that it contains. My fingers slid against its thin TPU transparent body skin as I tried hard to understand what was happening. I toyed with the phone for a bit and for a minute my focus shifted to the durable case it was housed in that can absorb so much impact.
Soon, my attention returned to the woods. I used the camera on my phone to zoom in and see if I could see anything. But alas, all I could see was darkness and more darkness.
I couldn’t sit any longer, I had to go and check what was happening. So, I wore my sneakers, climbed out of the window stealthily and picked up a shovel as I went around the house and ran into the darkness. My hands began to sweat in sheer excitement and I gripped the premium waterproof case harder that is reinforced and resilient.
Shovel in one hand (too young for a gun and my dad keeps them locked up) and the shockproof case in the other, I dashed into the depths of the forest as eerie sounds and darkness enveloped me. Soon, I reached a clearing, where I saw a few goons busy talking around a bonfire. I heard them talk among each other about the loot that lay in a large suitcase on which one the thugs sat. I waited for a good moment and used the shovel to disarm one of them.
The others rushed towards me, but I was quick and flashed my phone’s flashlight to disorient them before I used the shovel to knock them unconscious. I called the police that arrived on site in less than 10 minutes. I handed my phone in its protective cover that had a clipping of their discussion as they handcuffed the thugs. Robbers nabbed, I walked back home with a smile on my face. I had a story to tell my brother!
And these woods were not so scary after all. It looks like those martial arts classes I have been taking for years have paid off.
