My last plane flight was a lot more eventful than I would have liked. Thankfully, it ended well.
Halfway through the flight, the plane started to bump and shake. After a few minutes, the loudspeaker dinged and the pilot began to speak. “You might be noticing a little turbulence…” he said, sounding apologetic. “We’ll be flying through some bad weather here, probably for the next thirty minutes or so.” An audible groan went through the cabin. The plane was rocking back and forth even harder now, and a few people around me were starting to look queasy.
I picked up my LG V30, hoping to distract myself with some music or a mindless game. Less than a minute later, the plane lurched to one side. The built-in tray slammed down onto my arm and knocked my phone out of my hand. As it crash-landed in the center aisle, multiple people gasped (probably imaging how they would feel if that had been their own phone). I even heard a few curse words that aren’t fit for print.
Luckily, I had just gifted myself with the Cloak 3 case from Ghostek,
so I didn’t even flinch. I reached over my sleeping seatmate and grabbed the phone. Just as I expected – not a single scratch.
The guy sitting behind me had seen the entire incident. “Hey, what case do you have? I can’t believe your phone didn’t shatter.” I leaned over to show it to him (and brag about my smart purchase). “It has this really advanced shockproof thing going on,” I explained. “See how it’s covered with this slim full-body skin? That’s thermoplastic. It absorbs the shock, so the impact is completely neutralized.” (What can I say? I like to do my research.)
He thanked me for the recommendation, and I put in my headphones and attempted to sleep. That flight wasn’t great, but thanks to my Cloak 3 case, my phone was as perfect as ever.
